Re: Carrier latch spring mod

Just an update to all this. In my last parts order from Remington, I had them toss in a Marine Magnum carrier dog follower spring (P/N F97566) so I could examine it. Compared visually to the standard carrier dog follower spring, It appears to either be made from a different material or have a different finish for improved corrosion resistance. Other than that, it seems to be identical in length and thickness to the standard spring, and when measured, had essentially the same stiffness (within the measurement error of my scale, of course).

I've been running the heavier 1100 carrier latch spring in my trigger plate assembly since the stiffer carrier offered increased protection from mud and snow when I'm in the woods. Since the weather's been nicer and I'm mostly doing trap and target shooting with what little free time I've had lately, I'm keeping the Marine Magnum spring installed for now. With the standard-weight spring, the action is noticeably smoother and easier to cycle, and I much prefer the lighter feel.
