Re: ATI Halo Heat Sheild question
Glad you found one of those Express Tacticals.
ATI's website here says that heat shield will fit an 870. You sure you were looking at the right product?

Re: ATI Halo Heat Sheild question
Thanks. I had my local shop order it for me. They do a big buisness and were able to get me on pretty quick.
I know, it does say fits 870's but at the bottom of that webpage it says the following: Fits 12 GA Remington 870 Shotguns
*Halo Heatshield will not assemble to the Remington 870 Tactical
*Halo Heatshield Length is 16 1/4" or 16 1/2" with the optional 2" Picatinny Rail Installed
*Halo Heatshield may not fit 18" Barrels with a Muzzle Standoff
*Does Not Fit Model 870 Express Tactical
I'm going to call them Monday to confirm. I was really looking forward to getting one too. I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the stock forend.

Re: ATI Halo Heat Sheild question
They may be talking about the newer Express Tacticals with the one-piece mag tube. Those have the barrel guide ring in a different location than standard 870s, and if it happens to be right where the heat shield clamps on, that could cause problems.
Re: ATI Halo Heat Sheild question
That could be the case. Even though mine is new, it does have the 2 round extension tube. I'll check on it Monday and give you and update. Have a great weekend.

That is exactly right. I bought the ATI set up and the front clamp is exactly located where my barrel tube has the guide ring. No way around it. Too bad it's a nice piece and wish I could put it on somehow.Synchronizor wrote:They may be talking about the newer Express Tacticals with the one-piece mag tube. Re: ATI Halo Heat Sheild question
I haven't yet. Now I'm worried about buying anything on the internet for fear it won't fit. With that said, based soley on measurments from the manufacturer, the Warhammer may fit my gun....just not thrilled about paying $150+ for cool factor only.
Re: ATI Halo Heat Sheild question
Yea......$150 is a bit over the top for the CF. I recently put the ATI stock on mine. Looks great and feels great. thinking about the ATI 5 sided forend.

Re: ATI Halo Heat Sheild question
The reason I bought the halo was for the ghost ring sights. My remington is not tapped to accept rails or optics as the Mossberg is or the 870 Tactical. For that reason I did not want to rely on just the small bead at the end of the barrel. I just want something simple as I feel optics or red dots for a shotgun is overkill. Ideas out there? can I have a gunsmith tap my receiver for screw holes?
