Re: Recoil Pads
You really can't go wrong with any of the popular recoil pads. Some people swear allegiance and loyalty to one brand, but the general consensus between unbiased minds seems to say that many are about equal. Limbsaver, Xcoil by HiViz and Pachmayr Decelerator seem to be the three biggest winners. There are others such as the Remington Supercell that are better than the factory pad but don't live up to the higher quality ones. If you don't have too much of a problem with recoil as it is, those are a perfectly fine choice. It's still a step up from the rocks they come with.
I personally use a slip-on Limbsaver. I have longer than average arms, so the extra inch or so to the L.O.P really makes it feel right as rain. If you have average arm length, then the pre-fit are probably more up your alley. The felt recoil is noticeably less and makes for a nice and pleasant shooting experience, regardless of loads.

Re: Recoil Pads
One thing about recoil pads is they do not last forever. Exposure to UV and IR can make them hard over time. I really like the Kick-Eez pads but I changed them out every year when I shot competitively. The Decelerator pads are good as are the Limbsaver. The softest pad I have ever seen is the Gooey Pad. They are so soft they pick up dirt, grass, etc when you set the gun butt down in a rack. But they squish out on recoil to distribute the punch over a larger area very well.
Fitting a pad is really not that hard. There are a couple of different jigs on the market to make the job go faster but it can be done with a careful hand rather easily.

Re: Recoil Pads
I use the limbsaver, but just because it was the only one on the peg board at the gun shop. Seems to help the recoil okay though.
Re: Recoil Pads
Have the Limb saver on my wife's 870. She put 25 rounds of slugs through it two weekends ago and it bruised the shit out of her. Changed to the Blackhawk Gen II knoxx. Put 25 more rounds through it again last weekend and nothing.
Check out the size of the butt pad.

Re: Recoil Pads
Need a butt pad for a Leo top folder law Enforcement Only metal stock. Do they have replacement pads for these anymore? It is on a 870 Police
Re: Recoil Pads
Remington SuperCell fit perfectly on my 870 express. Works great and for $20, you can't go wrong. They have them on Amazon and if you're a prime member, you get 2-day free shipping.

Re: Recoil Pads
My 870P came with Remington's R3 pad. Very comfy, no complaints.
