870 Rifled Slug Barrel - scope mount?
870 Rifled Slug Barrel - scope mount?
Picked up an 870 fully-rifled slug barrel, from Remington-made, but it has this odd scope mount. Is this for some Picatiny rail mounting with two threaded screws?

Re: 870 Rifled Slug Barrel - scope mount?
SOLVED: It is the barrel mount for the scope cantilever. If you've seen the cantilever-scope mount for a slug gun on 870, 1100-, 11-87, etc.... this is the mounting point on the barrel. It is not a stand-alone scope mount. Now all I need to do is find a cantilever arm....

Brownells now has these cantilevers back in stock. I grabbed a spare since it seems like "a thing".

Re: 870 Rifled Slug Barrel - scope mount?
I've never used one of the cantilever bbls, but always thought they seemed useful. I mostly have short-range shots, and I'm not a huge scope fan. That said, I once put a saddle mount on an older 20 ga., used a low-power adjustable, as I recall. Standard 28" smoothbore would put foster slugs in a 10" circle at 100 yds. Never shot a deer with it...moved on to something else.
