Remington Slug barrel

Post by jneilc007 »

Greetings from Missouri! I am a new member, but not to the world of firearms. I am a retired US soldier with over 23 years of weapons experience and currently work as a firearms analyst for a major firearms box store. I received a Remington rifled slug barrel without sights mounted. However, there is a platform mounted on the barrel where the rear sight should be mounted. I have never seen this set-up before. I will try and send a picture to my phone. I am not very tech savvy so this may take a couple of tries. Anyway, if someone sees this phot can you please enlighten me as to why this was done.

It appears that Rem Arms dumped a bunch of “Remington” marked barrels on the market, many of them shorter barrels without sights or sight parts.

Your barrel likely has a front and rear ramp that have been soldered on to the barrel. The rear sight is the problem! There’s a part that Remington identifies as F201975. It’s known as the rear sight slide. It’s secured to that ramp with a small hex screw. There’s a second screw that secures the actual rear sight to that slide. The rear sight is then adjustable for both windage and elevation. It works well enough. You can buy a sight set from Trijicon, Meprolight, etc., and installing the sight set is pretty easy if you have the rear sight ramp and the two (2) required screws.

Rem Arms won’t help you. They’re quick to say they are not responsible for Remington products. That’s why they dumped all those barrels. They don’t want to put “Remington” marked barrels on “Rem Arms” marked receivers.
