My name is Freddie butI go by Redeye . I own a 870 in12 gage and my wife also has one in same gage. I picked up,a 20 gage today and I am trying to find out-its birth date.Heres some pics of the numbers. Any help will be appreciated.

This will give you an idea. It's not always accurate though. It's the date of the barrel, so if the barrel was replaced, it's not always accurate. Say the receiver (or barrel) sat on a shelf for a time before being mated to the other component, then the date wouldn't be accurate for the receiver.

Remington also repeated the codes for different years so you might get a choice, like '80, '85, '93 or '99.

Even then, some just don't seem right. That's been my experience, but it's all we've got.
