Increase Accuracy When Shooting Slugs

Post by Mucked »

I have just switched to using a Remington 870 as a hunting rifle for buffalo, using slug bullets and am looking for the best way to mount a scope. Previously, I only used bead sights for birdshot bullets, which were quite comfortable for close targets. Now that I am shooting slugs at long range (about 50–75m), I want a solution that helps me aim faster and more accurately. I wonder what type of scope you guys are using? My budget is limited, so I prioritize something that is easy to install, durable, not too expensive but still effective.

Any sincere advice is welcome, thank you very much everyone!

If you’re mainly using the 870 for slug hunting, I’d first look at the barrel you have before choosing an optic. The forum has several discussions pointing out that a dedicated slug barrel with an integrated cantilever mount is a particularly straightforward setup, since the optic stays with the barrel.
