Remington 870 Express vs 870 Police Comparison

Post by CatherineBonnette »

Hi everyone,

I'm looking into the Remington 870 and have a few questions. Does anyone know the differences between the 870 Express and 870 Police? I'd like to know about the durability, features, and practical applications of each. Thanks for sharing!

Best regards!

The express vs the police magnum gets into many variables over many decades, so here are a few differences that come to mind. A few of the differences that have been done is the express has generally come out with birch stock. The police magnum was made with walnut and also later on came with synthetic stocks in several variations, and also in a top folding stock. The express was made with a 4-5 pound sear/connector spring, where the police magnum has a 5-8 pound sear/connector spring. The express later on was made with a metal injected molded extractor, where the police magnum has a forged extractor. The police magnum also has a heavier carrier dog spring. Police magnum models have a heavier magazine tube spring. Somewhere about 94 Remington started to dimple the magazine tubes on their shotguns so you could not put more that 4 rounds magazine tubes (so no magazine extension), where the police magnum models were never dimpled.
