Consider a 26" or 28" barrel for versatility in hunting and skeet shooting. These lengths offer a good balance between maneuverability and accuracy. Also, look for a barrel with interchangeable chokes to adapt to different situations. Good luck with your new shotgun!

For a true “do-everything” hunting barrel, **26 inches with interchangeable chokes** is the usual sweet spot. It gives better swing and follow-through for birds, patterns well for clays, and still isn’t unwieldy in the field. A 28" can be great too, but starts to feel long with extensions and gear. Look for a vent rib and standard choke system (IC, Modified, Full) so you can adapt easily. Barrel length doesn’t affect velocity much—balance and handling matter more. Your 20" can stay as the handy utility option.
