Accuracy of cantilevered barrel with scope

Post by Dan »

Hello All
My question is in regard to a cantilevered barrel with scope on an 870 Wingmaster 12 gauge Magnum. Rifled barrel. Some folks who have never seen one said the flexibility of it keeps it from being accurate and maintaining zero. Other companies have them. Looking to get one. Many thanks.

Hey there!

A cantilevered barrel with a scope on a Remington 870 Wingmaster 12-gauge Magnum—especially a rifled barrel—can absolutely be accurate and maintain zero. The cantilever mount is attached directly to the barrel, which helps keep the optic and barrel as a single unit. This design is especially useful for pump-action shotguns like the 870, where a receiver-mounted scope could lose zero due to the movement of the action.

If properly installed, holding zero is no problem. Or if you want to increase the accuracy, you can consider using a one-piece cantilever mount.
