Ithaca 37, I like!

Saw a clean 1969 model 37 at local shop. Got it for a decent price, maybe because nobody can love a shotty with extended mag capability in 2021. I'm an 870 guy, but this thing is mechanical art. I gave it to my 10 yr old boy.

Have to admit, if I could find one with the long mag tube I'd let go of an 870 in a skinny minute.

Indeed. Small things that could have been accomplished in a cheaper way are done with elegance. Like safety button and detent spring. And the close fit of trigger to housing. Hardly a gap.

The Ithaca 37 is as classic as an 870 Wingmaster, and in the PA deer woods growing up the Ithaca Deerslayer Model 37 was what 49% of folks carried, the other half being .30-30's and the occassional .30-06. I'd love one but you don't see them often around here.

I have 5 of them. The only complaint i have with the 37 is you have to have three different screwdrivers to take it a part. You have to loosen the stock to remove the trigger group, so one for the buttplate, one to loosen the stock and one to remove the screws that holds the shell lifter in place.
