FNG, Iowa
Greetings from the frozen mid west. I'm a long time fan of the 870 platform and have owned many over the years from HD to Trap models, Currently my only 870 is a Home Defense Model with the synthetic stocks set and a few mods to make it more suited for my uses. The gun continues to disappoint in function and I have done the chamber polish to try and smooth things out. I currently have a Carlsons smooth bore, rifle sighted barrel bored for the Rem Chokes on back order and am hoping that sorts out the sticking issues with cheaper ammo, the only thing available unfortunately at the time of this writing. I'm planning to run a Hog Buster or similar tube meant for Buck shot when it comes in. If I remember right these are chrome lined. Does anyone have any positive or negative feedback on these. Yes I know they are made in Turkey but Turkish shotguns have come a long way in a pretty short time.

Odd that you haven't got it running right. What kind of cheap ammo?
Saw ain interesting youtube video, almost moved on when I heard a squeaky pubescent voice and soft hands. But kid made an interesting discovery if accurate. He says his gun would lock up and he could free it up by shaking and wiggling, not buttstroking Mother Earth in her big fat dirty face as is the custom with a rough chamber. Apparently there was a shallow groove right where the case rim rests, opposite the extractor. If the rim happened to be in the rut he couldn't open the action, but by shaking the gun he'd get the rim to shake out of the groove. After massaging and blending the rut with his Dremel the problem went away.
I'm approaching "get off my lawn" age, so was a refreshing reminder that older guys dont have all the answers, young people are capable of figuring stuff out, and I should be more open-minded about some things. Not communism, though. Gonna keep on hating commies.

Lol Yeah I already polished out that groove. Also at the get off my yard phase. I’ve owned at least one 870 since 1986 and have never had any issues with any of them until now. Including slug guns, trap guns, police guns, and regular run of the mill wing masters. The cheap bulk pack ammo has really sticky extraction. No problems with any high brass at all. It’s a 2008 production gun.
