Thoughts on the Remington Bankruptcy Sale?

Well I hope Vista Outdoors knows what it is doing and has the skill and ability to resurrect the brand. Selling Marlin off to Ruger will be awesome, and I hope Ruger can get production rolling again of quality firearms, perhaps a new Model 39A. Tapco will now be a Sportsman's Warehouse brand, which seems to fit.

Thoughts?

Lever guns and revolvers? A marriage made in heaven. Sounds like a plan to me...

Agreed. I own several Marlin lever hunting rifles and my standard backup is a Ruger Blackhawk in one of many calibers. It is a match worth maintaining. A shame how far Bushmaster has fallen, from being the go-to AR maker for LE and US Army if you didn't source from Colt, to getting traded like a bastard stepchild, penniless and pursued.

Remington accepted Ruger's offer to buy Marlin, in today's Ruger News e-mail.

Yea, I already sent them my wish list. A new 39A, a 336 in 32 Win Special, 218 Bee and other classic levergun rounds, and other wringing-my-hands goodies.

So Vista Outdoor gets the Remington brand and firearms? I hope they will take care about our favorite guns.

Looks like Vista Outdoors only bought the "ammunition and accessories" parts of the business.

Roundhill Group LLC, an "investment group" bought the Remington factory in Ilion. We'll see if they're interested in making firearms, or "creating value by selling off the pieces".

Interesting. I was hoping that Remington brand will be bought by a gun company. But I hope that they will make better business decisions than Freedom Group and Cerberus Capital Management...

Ditto. I just hope that this Roundhill Group isn't one of those buy-it-for-pennies, and-sell-pieces-for-nickels disassembly investment groups. So many great companies no longer exist based on that style of "investing". I hope they're gun people because they do own a bunch of other gun brands.
