Hi guys,
I have a couple questions regarding the trigger assembly and Action Lock Bar.
I just purchased a Remington 870 Police magnum that was pre-owned and used as a Police riot shotgun. I have been making some upgrades and running some snap caps through it. Haven't been able to take it shooting yet as I got it a week before the COVID-19 locked down CA.
As I ran some snap caps through the gun I ran into an issue with the Action Bar Lock riding up on the left Action bar. This pushed the action bar lock more inward and leads to a jam with the next shell from the magazine getting caught and pinned between the magazine and the action lock bar. It can be somewhat difficult to unjam this as there isn't much room to reach into the action with the shell in that position.
Is this a common thing or has anyone else had a similar issue? It happens randomly and I can't figure out why it does this. Could the action Lock bar just need to be replaced?
I have ordered the Tank's Wide Action Release as a replacement/upgrade. When I went to install it I realized I would have to make some permanent adjustments to the trigger assembly. Cutting the metal trigger plate so that the new piece fits. Potentially drilling out the riveted hammer pin. Is this upgrade worth cutting the metal trigger plate for?
When it comes to the hammer pin, if i drill out the rivet, to I have to replace the pin and peen it back to how it was before, or can just a normal pin work fine? I like the idea of having just a normal pin so that I can pop it out in the future but are there any downsides to doing this that can affect the performance of the gun?
I appreciate any help / knowledge you have on this. I like to know as much as I can before I do any irreversible damage.

Re: Action Bar Lock Upgrade or Replace
Is the action bar (forend tube bars) bent causing the interference? Action bar locks typically “dont go bad”.
As far as installing the aftermarket piece it almost sounds like more trouble than what its worth for a piece that never goes bad.
