Hi
I'm looking to upgrade a Rem 870 youth 20 gauge.
I'd like to add a 2 or 3 round magazine extention.
I've tried following the links provided on the forum
and I can't find anything in stock.
Any help?
James

Was there a particular brand of extension you were looking for?
Re: 20 gauge extention magazine availability
Synchronizor,
I do not have a particular brand in mind. Just need options for a 20 gauge.
Reliability is the main priority, and value is always a plus.
Also , the best 20 gauge magazine follower is needed.
I may switch my barrel to an 18 inch in the future if I can find one so
I don't want the extension to be longer than that length barrel.
Thanks
James

Re: 20 gauge extention magazine availability
Well, off the top of my head, Remington, Nordic, and Choate all make 20ga extensions. There are probably some others, too. You will want a +2 if matching the length of an 18/18.5" barrel is important, though you may not get a perfect match.
As for followers, the factory parts generally work fine, but if you want to go aftermarket, I really like the Delrin followers from S&J Hardware, and they make a 20ga version of their Type I design. Sometimes it takes a bit of experimentation to find an extension & follower combo that run reliably together, but I've had pretty good luck with the 12ga S&J followers.

Did anybody ever come across a Scattergun Technologies or Wilson Combat 20 gauge magazine extension? I know they made some at one time but have never seen one. Would love to get my hands on one. Thanks

I've only ever seen 12ga extensions from Wilson Combat (though they do offer a 20ga version of their magazine follower). If they made 20ga tubes, it was probably back before Scattergun Tech was acquired by WC. Maybe keep an eye on Ebay.

My wife has a 20 gauge youth model that she absolutely loves, it has a Choate extension, (seven 2-3/4" shells in the tube). It works flawlessly. I just can't seem to find a suitable barrel/mag extension clamp.

I run a Choate +4 on my 20ga with this light mount.

I have the Nordic extension on my 20gauge and I use the red aluminum follower I think from brownells. Never had any reliability issues
