Barrel markings

Barrel markings

I am a new member , my 870 has a stamp on the left side of the barrel 2” forward of the receiver

IMR
CYL

I’m trying to find out what this means , can anyone help?

Sure it is not IMP CYL?
Which would mean improved cylinder choke.

Most likely what has been id'ed above. IMR isn't a standard designation, but IMP is. Could be a stamping flaw.
