Hi from CINCINNATI

Post by bhalm1 »

Just bought a Remington 870 Sportsman. I have been reading up on the different items now incorporated into these new models. I have not figured out yet just what the Action Bar Lock does. Maybe one of you out there can tell me what it's purpose is. Thank you. Bill

Welcome aboard! This is a slow, sleepy forum with lots of great info, but response time can be, well, just don't hold your breath.

The action bar locks the action until you either pull the trigger, or unlock the action using the action bar lock. When you shoot the shotgun, a trigger pull unlocks the action so spent hull can be ejected and the next round can be racked into the chamber. If you have a loaded round and you need to cycle it out (eject it), you need to depress the action bar lock.
