1.) Some of the 870 Police models are shipping with a 14" Police barrel with low profile XS sights (rifle sights).
Would anybody know what the Remington part number is for just that barrel?
I am interested in getting just the barrel.

2.) And there are two 870 Police models on that list with that barrel. However, I can't figure out what the difference is between the two.
Part number: 24453
Part number: 27579
Anybody know what the difference is between those two guns?
Thanks,
Faustus

Planning to build an SBS (short barrel shotgun)?

Re: 14" Police Barrel with Low Profile XS sights
I think the XS sights are the ghost ring setup with the receiver-mounted rear element. If you want rifle sights, I think the part number is F242552 - BBL 12/14 MOD RS PARKERIZED". That's from Remington's 2014 parts price list, but part numbers tend to stick around from what I've seen. If you find a supplier with that barrel, I would double-check with them about the specs, though.
One of those might come with a +1 magazine extension. Or, it might just be a screw-up on Remington's part and some of the listed similarities are incorrect (like a different stock, an IFL, different finish, etc). Remington doesn't exactly have a great track record when it comes to their websites.

The TAC-14 are not available yet here in Canada.
So, yes, I am thinking about building one but on the 870 Police platform.
I saw the account of a guy who went hunting with a Mossberg Shockwave:

That got me thinking ....

Part number F242552 is the barrel with real rifle sights.
However, I am looking for the low profile XS sights like this 18 inch barrel:

And I think I found the part number:
F401821AS V-2 870 BBL 12/14 FIXED MOD FSXS-T
That should be a 14" barrel with XS sights and a Tritium front.

I live in CA, so having an SBS is only a dream for many of us. What I would do to make an SBS out of my 870 express..

Possibly, though "FSXS-T" might also mean "front sight only, XS, tritium". Hard to say, the parts descriptions in Remington's documentation really aren't big on detail. If you find a dealer for these 14" barrels, they could probably help explain things better.

Or contact Rem's LE department and ask them directly.
