N00b from the Bluegrass

Post by Shan »

Howdy folks. New fellow here...
I've had my 870 Marine Magnum for a dozen of so years, but only just recently have I committed to putting it to some serious use for hog hunting. Putting a few bucks into mods for red dot and/or flip-up sights... Any recommendations are gratefully accepted!

I don't think the Marine Magnums are drilled & tapped for receiver-mount rails, as they're set up to be riot-type shotguns, and the holes would provide a location for corrosion to start & work under the plating. A saddle-type mount would probably be your best bet. There are red dots with built-in saddle mounts meant specifically for Remington shotguns, or you can get a saddle-mount with a 1913 rail & mount whatever you want. If installed properly, those should work just fine for an open-choked riot gun.
