Hi, I'm a new member and interested in the modifications and accessories required to make the 870 the best tactical defensive shotgun. I have taken the Master Gunsmithing Course from AGI. I am 73 years old and retired.

Best things to do to make a good HD 870 is to buy (or load) a bunch of ammo, and practice with it a lot. That'll get you more familiar with the thing so that you can work it without having to put a lot of conscious thought into doing so, it'll break the gun in so that it runs better, and it'll help you work out for yourself what you need to change to make it fit you and do what you need it to do.
