Need help finding good mag clamp

Post by GR00VY »

I recently bought a nordic +3 mag tube and a nordic barrel/mag clamp. The tube looks great and fits good but the mag clamp does not fit the barrel properly. The contour on the side of the clamp that holds the barrel is to small and doesn't sir right. The nordic tube is a bit bigger in diameter in comparison to some other tubes and I want to make sure the clamp I buy will fit the mag extension properly. Any suggestions?

I like he Magpul clamp. I'm using it with a Scattergun Tech mag tube that measures 1.00" in diameter. The clamp appears as if it would work with a tube slightly larger as well.

The Magpul clamp is a two piece design and I changed the original clamp screw for a slightly longer one which made life much less fiddly.

Hope this helps.

Also using the Mag Pul clamp on a factory extended mag tube.

I think Mesa may be my best option as well, as I need a clamp with both a side pic rail and a side sling stud. Pricey though.

I like the Magpul clamp/forward sling point as well, always works on any setup. I also Love my CDM BMT Clamp. It's similar to the Mesa, and has a 2" pic rail on one side and a QD positive hold hole on the other side. You can order an extra pic rail for the CDM from Amazon for $15.00, and have a pic rail on both sides. Very strong and lightweight. Includes Heat Tape for no scratch installation. It costs about $56.00 for the Clamp. I highly recommend this clamp!

The Magpul clamp on my gun has to go on one way, the extension is a bit larger in diameter. The barrel OD is just over 7/8", the extension is 1". This might be the OP's problem.

I have the same setup. Seems like the screw that magpul supplied is a fraction of a hair too short, even so I wouldn't want to mount it with just one thread engaged. I haven't done it yet but when I get time I'd imagine getting a longer screw would fix the issue. If you want to go that route I saw while researching that it is an 8-32 thread.
