870 extension
870 extension
Hello everyone. I am looking for opinions on the best +2 extention for my 870 super mag. It has a vent rib 18 3/4" barrel. I already know that I have to remove the dimples inside the mag tube.

Are you looking for a single-piece or two-piece extension? And what will you be using this gun for?
Re: 870 extension
Wilson Combat extension has some cool factor above other brands.

Re: 870 extension
Wilson Combat extensions are good choices. They're tough, simple to install, come with a decent spring & follower combo (though the follower can benefit from a simple mod), offer several sling mount options, and include a wave washer for use with barrels that don't have magazine cap detents. Plus, they're very wallet-friendly.
The major downsides to the Wilson Combat +2 are its less-than-optimized weight & internal space, but those aren't huge concerns for combat/defensive duty with 2.75" shells. The sling plates are also not removable, unfortunately, but they work well with standard-profile Express barrels, so just do some thinking before you decide which version to order. For HD, I'd suggest the version with the vertical QD sling stud if you think you may need a sling; otherwise the version without any sling plate would be simpler, lighter, and more streamlined.

I just added the Wilson +2 without the sling mount, and couldn't be happier.

Hey Synchronizor, as i am about to order a Wilson Combat +2, what "simple mod" to the follower are you referring to?

Breaking off the center post so that it won't crack open shell crimps, or come off on its own and cause problems.

Hey Dale, i'm ordering the exact same extension in a couple of days; the Wilson Combat +2 without the sling plate. In your picture it extends out even with your barrel, are you using an 18" barrel by any chance?? Just curious because i have an 18" barrel on mine...MVPDX3 wrote:I just added the Wilson +2 without the sling mount, and couldn't be happier.Installation was a breeze.

EDIT: I got my Wilson Combat +2 mag ext. and it does install quick and easy and you're in business. I did the simple "mod" Synchronizor suggested and it works like a charm.
