“I purchased it from barnesgunparts.com for $25.00 shipped. It looks cheaply made at first but after a closer look you can see that it is actually very well made and assembled by hand. I have seen different forend wrenches for about the same price and twice as much but poorly designed. Brownells forend wrench is what I originally wanted because of the design but this one is very similar and half the price.

Removing Dimples on Remington 870 Magazine Tube

Shotguns are powerful and versatile weapons but they have very limited magazine capacity. That is why this is one of the first things for a shotgun owner to improve when he starts building his tactical / home defense Remington 870 shotgun.

A lot of Remington 870 owners want to install a magazine extension on their shotguns. But there are dimples in magazine tube which must be removed first. And all of us are afraid to break our favorite shotgun during this process.

What is the purpose of the dimples inside the Remington 870 magazine tube?

I have received answer about dimples directly from the Remington:
“The dimples in the magazine tube is to keep the new style retainer in place. If the
dimples are removed, the retainer would not stay in place. We do not recommend these
dimples to be removed. This style was introduced in the late 80’s.”

But if you want to install magazine extension you still need to drill them out first.

Dimples were not in magazine tube forever, Remington started to punch them into magazine since 1990 or little later. There are no dimples in Police version of Remington 870 (standard Remington 870 Express magazine capaciy is 4+1, or the one with factory magazine extension is 6+1, but it has dimples too)

Some owners say that drilling them out leads to rusting of your magazine tube so you may find it useful to cold blue it.

Here in Greece it is only permitted to own smooth bored shotguns and they are mainly used for hunting. Red-dot scopes also require special permits (which I have) and are only issued to registered marksmen and only for use on a shooting range. You are not allowed to hunt with ANY type of scope enhancements. I only fire my gun at the range and 99% of the time I shoot slugs.

12 Gauge, 4 Mag. Cap., 20″ Fixed Improved Cylinder Barrel. (SKU 25565). This is one of the best smooth bored slug hunting guns one can buy for use with rifled foster or brenneke type slug. It can also be used with all types of shot. It is not very effective with sabot slugs. Sabot slugs should only be used with the rifled barrel version of this gun and are a little more accurate and effective to approx 150yrds, but it not as versatile. The IC smooth bore is extremely effective and accurate up to 100 yrds with all types of foster or brenneke slugs – it is not at all brand specific and grouping is always very tight. It is as accurate as my 6MOA red dot sight allows me to be. After all most shots extend max to 50-75yrds allowing respective accuracy of approx 3-4MOA at that range. I have zeroed my gun at 75yrds.

30mm objective diameter with fixed 6 MOA dot size & 12 position dot intensity adjustment. The Deer gun does not come with any swivels for sling attachment. This is a great quality product, but the strange thing is that the replacement magazine cap is actually a much heavier duty and better quality cap than the original.
