Sling mount?

Post by mwindsor1303 »

Has anybody used the sling mounts that fit in between reciever and the stock?
If so how did it work out for you? I was thinking of picking one up but want to know if
Any of y'all knowledgeable folks on here have used one and if so how did you like it.

Sling mount?

I have one, it works just fine, it inly takes up maybe a centimeter of space, and normally the bolt that goes into the receiver has enough extra length to accommodate this. Keep in mind that a sidesaddle may get in the way.

Sling mount?

If you have the Magpul SGA stock I like the SGA Sling mount adapter because it adds no extra space between the receiver and stock due to the fact it comes already notched out for it with a little adapter in its place in the meantime.

I'm also thinking about getting one for a single mount sling on my 870 Express. I need one that will not interfere with a Mesa side saddle though.

A couple things to be aware of with this type of sling plate:

First, by setting the stock back some amount, there is the possibility of not being able to screw the stock bolt in far enough to hold things together securely. This probably won't be an issue with factory stocks, but aftermarket ones may have sloppier tolerances. This is pretty easy to check though, and since 870 stock bolts use a 1/4-28 UNF thread pitch, it's easy to find or make the correct fastener.

Second is the change to ergonomics. Spacing the stock back may change its fit for you, and if the sling attachment comes out too low down on the side, the gun could become very painful to shoot.

I can tell you first hand that the MagPul single point sling mount that goes between their stock and the receiver is a killer if you do any left hand drills. At a recent class we had a whole string of left hand drills and after the first shot I was sure I just about broke my finger. I adjusted the best I could but the angle and shape makes it a killer, it was the first thing to come off the gun. Some of the others might be better but I'm pretty sure none of them are in my future. The bone in my left index finger still feels bruised...

Good point, that's the kind of experienced info I'm looking for; never considered that. You never know when you may be forced to fire left handed. Thanks MStarmer.

A two point sling attachment has always worked best for me. Much more stable & user friendly for my personal needs.

Does anyone know why 870 express super mag synthetic has a swivel stud in rear bottom part of the stock and no where else? Magazine cap has a hole in it, but i doubt it will fit any swivel stud? Do i need to buy a new cap with stUd or is there any other solution?
