Polishing your Action???

Has anyone polished there bolt or bolt holder plate on there 870? Did it help any or smooth out the action? Was thinking of polishing the bolt plate on mine.......Good or Bad? Anything that could go wrong or problems this could cause?

Some people polish Remington 870 bolt just for looks.

I have polished bars on my Benelli Supernova to smooth out the action.

So you can see no problems with polishing the bolt plate on the 870 then? I might give it a try over the next day or 2 to see for myself, ill do before and after pictures.

If by "bolt holder plate", you mean the slide assembly, I don't see much point in polishing it. With the action assembled, that part is barely visible; and if it's smooth functioning you're after, you'd be best off just running the gun and letting the contacting parts smooth themselves naturally.

I just rack the thing about 50 times every time I pick it up. Maybe just froglube the heck out of it and pump away!

I have to admit that after approx 400 rounds it did smooth out. But I took some time to help it along a bit. Used the dremel in some tight place and the buffer in others. And yes... I use FrogLube as well.
