Looking for someone with a pre-Flex Tab 870.

Post by Synchronizor »

One of the next videos I'm starting work on will focus on the 870's shell carrier; addressing several misconceptions about it (slowing down loading, catching fingers, etc.) and going over other facts such as the flex tab carrier.

I'm looking for someone with a pre-84 870 with the old-style shell carrier, breech bolt, and slide assembly (or possibly just the parts), who can upload some specific images for me to use in the video. Anyone able to help me out?

I have a 70's era wingmaster. Pre flexi tab. I would be willing to help. I don't have a very good camera but I'll give it a shot I guess. Also, I had to replace the carrier/lifter with a flexi tab carrier/lifter. Not sure if that will make a difference. Every other part is original and I still have the original chrome looking carrier/lifter as well.

I'm just looking for some close-up images of the carrier and slide assembly, if you still have those parts.

These images will just be going on a 720p video. I would prefer images as large as possible so I have maximum flexibility in cropping, but they don't need to be massive as long as the detail's there.

Yeah all the internals are still original except the shell lifter. But I still have the part. I can take it apart and just snap alot of pics of different angles of each part. Then post them to see if you think they are usable quality and if there are any other angles you need for the parts. I'll see what I can do tommorow.

That'd be great, thanks.

Doesn't the flex tab upgrade kit come with a newer-style breech bolt and slide assembly in addition to the shell carrier? I didn't think the new carrier would work correctly without replacing all three.

I didn't upgrade. I just replaced the carrier. The original has a crack that has made it easier to bend. I suspect it was broken by clearing the type of jam that the flexi tab system was invented to fix. When I replaced the carrier I found that they didn't make the original silver style anymore and I had to use a new design carrier. The flexi tab definately doesn't work completely how it should like on my newer 870, but it sorta works.

Here is what I have so far. Let me know if they will work for you or if you need any other parts or angles. A couple look like they came out a little blurry but most came out better than I thought the camera could take haha. I hope they are useable :)

Those look great, thanks.

I think the only other thing I need is some shots of the old-style breech bolt assembly.
