i have a 870 super mag had it for about 10 years now. it has been well taken care of but it has started not wanting to eject shells. i am shooting kent fast steel 3in #4. after shooting the gun fails to eject the shell. the gun will eject the shell if it has not been shot. the action on the gun appears to be slightly moved back once the shell has been shot and if i push it forward it will grab the shell and eject it. i do not have this problem with any other shell i have shot. the gun has been cleaned from top to bottom. i was curious if any has had this problem and if they can help.
thanks

Re: 870 super mag jam
When you say it fails to eject, is the shell sticking in the barrel? Or when you try to rack it, it won't move back?tader wrote:i have a 870 super mag had it for about 10 years now. it has been well taken care of but it has started not wanting to eject shells. i am shooting kent fast steel 3in #4. after shooting the gun fails to eject the shell. the gun will eject the shell if it has not been shot. the action on the gun appears to be slightly moved back once the shell has been shot and if i push it forward it will grab the shell and eject it. i do not have this problem with any other shell i have shot. the gun has been cleaned from top to bottom. i was curious if any has had this problem and if they can help.

Re: 870 super mag jam
the shell is stuck in the barrel the action moves all the way back and it tries to feed another shell in the chamber. i have looked at the extractor and i have another 870 wingmaster and the i took both extractors out and they appear to be the same as far as i can tell. the extractor functions normal i can put the shell in after it has been shot and it will eject it. it is only when u shoot the shell and you go to pump the shotgun it will not eject.

Have you tried to polish barrel? http://www.rem870.com/2012/10/14/reming ... polishing/
But it sounds like the claw is not catching the lip of the brass or the spring of the claw might not be strong enough for it to fully seat the claw on the lip of the shell brass. Can you show a pic of the brass that gets tuck? I want to see if the claw actually seats in when you rack the round in.

Re: 870 super mag jam
You need to post it on photo bucket or image shack, then put it in "[img][/ img]"

Re: 870 super mag jam
If you load a shell that's used it will get stuck, but your extractor should catch hard enough that it will pull it out, something tells me that your extractor has something to do with it. If you have polished your barrel feed ramp and its still doing this, maybe the spring that push the claw forward is now weak and is not fully pushing the claw forward for it to fully hook on the lip of the shell.. I'll try get a picture.
