Hi people (& rust repair question)

Hello everyone

I found this forum when I was googling gun refinishing. I have an old 870 express at my dads house in storage. Anyhow, it got damaged by high humidity. In addition, anything that was aluminum fused to the steel (the side saddle & the alloy follower). I think the factory finish was so-so anyway, but I was bummed to see this damage. I had it protected & oiled up in a soft case (for 2 years)

The rust mark on the receiver was where an aluminum ammo carrier was

What have you guys used to remove rust? I'm thinking about Evap-o-rust?

Anyway, glad to be here. I found this youtube on rust removal. I'm going to give it a try

I'd be careful with the Evap-o-rust. Bluing is an arrested form of rusting. I'd be concerned the Evap-O-Rust would attack the bluing as well as the rust.

If you plan on having it ceracoated or something it may not matter.

On the good side it does look like surface rust and no pitting. I'd look for some YouTube videos on firearms rust removal.
