New Member - Old guy.

Post by grendelbean »

Hello All - thanks for the opportunity to come on board..... Old guy is a retired Police Officer trying to recreate my old duty 870. Back when I retired in 2003 I sold my old friend the police 870 with ghost ring sighted 18.25" barrel and mag extension. Sold it to another police officer and hung it all up. Well - as you might imagine I want to have it again. I have been looking for an 18" ghost ring or rifle sighted barrel for my new 870 and can't find one available anywhere. Sign of the times, I suppose.... All else is pretty much set with Magpul stock (SGA Ambidextrous), MS1 sling, Magpul Quick Detach Swivels, Streamlight, Mag extension; but I can't find a slug barrel of 18" anyhow....

Would love to hear of it if anyone knows where such might be available in the Atlanta metro area - or elsewhere for that matter. Thanks again for having me aboard. I look forward to learning anew from the forum and knowledge of the members.

I found a pair of 870 Police trade-ins for cheap (a long time ago). No barrels, but did come with Surefire Weapons lights on the fore-end. Everything was there and operated perfectly. One got customized, one went back to wooden furniture. Awesome 870's! You have great taste sir!

I got lucky too, in that I found on Gun Broker an old and very well used 870 that looks like it might be a police trade-in - rough looking but has the barrel I have been looking for. As an old guy, newly back to the game, I am amazed at the variety and volume of accessories and add-ons of all sorts that are now available. I'll keep playing around and spend a small fortune and also end up with a seven or so tons hunk of steel. There are advantages and pitfalls in adding accessories. Thanks for the reply and have a great day.
