Hi All
So I have a used police trade in 870M. The rear trigger group pin was removed and a sidesaddle was put on it. The fit is sloppy and I would like to put a standard pin back in it. From all the diagrams I have found they list the front pin and rear pin as separate numbers (and the rear is always sold out). Are the two pins interchangeable or are they truly position specific?
Thanks in advance

They are different in size/diameter.

Thanks, I took it all apart and figured it out. Now I just need to order a replacement and put it all back together.

eBay lists several sets as a cheap alternative.

Re: Trigger Group Pin question
I have the same issue - Police trade-in with a side saddle. I need a pair of pins, but I am wondering what holds them in and I suspect they are some clips I need to buy? I'm working with my 18 year old, prefers very traditional look (wood, no side saddle, bead sight, etc). I did talk him in to a mag extention though. Anyway, the side saddle needs to off. Any advice?
Thanks!!
Thanks!!
Re: Trigger Group Pin question
The front and rear pin will sit inside of a trigger plate bushing ("sleeves" hole for the trigger pin to center the trigger assy with the receiver) and a trigger pin detent spring to secure it in place.JeffCooper wrote: ↑Sat Oct 02, 2021 5:24 pm I have the same issue - Police trade-in with a side saddle. I would be willing to bet that both are still present in your trigger assembly. If not, ebay.
And yes, 100% you would need both a FRONT and a REAR, the rear pin is wider.
Also - I just picked up a complete wingmaster trigger assy (all metal, blued components) for my 870. They aren't exactly cheap right now, nor are they easy to find without wear to the finish around the trigger guard, but I will say I'm incredibly happy with mine.
They are drop-in for any 870 and you could re-blue it in a day with virtually no material cost. Some steel wool, a $10 bottle of cold blue of your preferred brand, and a couple rags is all you need. Might be worth checking out.

Re: Trigger Group Pin question
@doom720 - Super helpful! I'll go yank out my trigger and compare to your drawing. I know I need the pins. This a match pair of 870p's - both had side-saddles (one is missing, but has the plate), so both are bolted on right through the trigger housing. I know I'll need pin set...stand by.
I did notice the price of a trigger housing. $100+!

Re: Trigger Group Pin question
Those are pics of my dirty trigger...other than pins, am I missing something? I'm planning Cerakote both guns. That park is pretty marked up
Re: Trigger Group Pin question
Looks like you have everything minus those pins.JeffCooper wrote: ↑Sun Oct 03, 2021 2:06 am Those are pics of my dirty trigger...other than pins, am I missing something? I'm planning Cerakote both guns. That park is pretty marked up

Make sure when the gun is cerakoted that you (or your guy) go light in the area where the barrel meets the inside of the receiver and where the barrel ring meets the end of the magazine tube.
I'm dealing with this issue right now and it's not fun.
