870P XS low profile front rifle sight base dimensions
870P XS low profile front rifle sight base dimensions
I have been working on getting a set of the low profile sights offered on the 870P models and after much headache, managed to get a set from XS. The hangup now is that XS said the front sight base was manufactured in house so they were unable to help me get one. I am wondering if anyone here knows the dimensions or where I can find them as Remington hasn't been much help.

Have you considered sourcing an 870P take-off barrel with the sights to use as a basis for the measurements?

I'm going to have them mounted on my wingmaster. I don't think I can justify picking up a parkerized barrel for some measurements to just have it sit.

I'm not tracking. What do they mean manufactured "in-house"? Whose house? Can you post an image of what front sight you are after?

Ok, I found a photo. Didn't know they made sights like that.
Since Rem didnt make them for long, and now doesnt make them at all, you are likely in gunsmith territory. Which I suppose is why you are asking.
Here's something to try. Tape on a standard front ramp base and measure how low it shoots. That will allow you to calculate how much the standard base needs to be shortened. So long as the excess height is more than the depth of original dovetail then you'll have metal for a fresh dovetail.
