Rem factory plus 2 mag extension color change

so I got this kit in the mail a couple of days ago. my 1980's 870 has the deep gloss bluing and this extension is black oxide but they are hard to find and there are none in blued finish so I ordered it anyway.

so I put it overnight in evaporust which took off most of the oxide.

then hit the parts with a soft wire wheel.

then I buffed the raw steel but forgot to photo before I blued. did 3 coats of super blue washing and polishing with 000 steel wool between coats. then did 3 coats of perma blue washing and steel wool between coats. I buffed the inside of the tube when finished with white scotchbrite which is super soft. not perfect but a lot closer to the finish on the gun.

You did all that with cold blue? That looks really nice! And the coupling nut took the blue as well? Dude, really good job

thanks. these 2 items took the cold blue really well. I could have gotten away with less coats but I'm kind of nuts with this stuff. unfortunately the clamp did not fit my 80"s gun so I had to order a pre 90 clamp. will refinish it when it arrives.

The mag extension and clamp I got were polished blue to match the Police finish...ask them for polished blue clamp. The only issue I have is with the coupling nut, it's a reddish blue...
