870 Receiver Pins?

Post by MrMossberg »

Just wondering what these marks are on newer 870 receivers. They look like they might be reinforcement pins maybe?? Tried to google for the answer but couldn't come up with anything. Thanks

Those are the backsides of the rivets that hold the ejector spring onto the receiver.

Scorpion8 is correct. Open your bolt and look at your ejector and you’ll see.

Usually those rivet backsides don't show up if at all. Looks like some solvent might have migrated around the edges into the nitride coating that Remington uses.

This is why I do not clean my guns. No good can come of it.

A gun that I can't clean is a gun not worth having, IMHO. I clean mine after I shoot them, and every six months to a year even if I do not shoot them. My M887 Nitro-Mag Tactical is ten years old and still looks brand new. She is ready to rock & roll! Just cleaned her up a couple of weeks ago even though I have not shot her in quite awhile.

Why does the Marlin levergun have no buttplate?
