Hi all! First post!
I’m in the process of making my old beat up ‘70s Wingmaster a bit more suited for home defense. I tracked down an 18” barrel, and traded it to a guy for a longer trap barrel I had lying around. According to him, it was off of “an old riot gun”. No other info given.
It has a rough matte gunmetal finish, could be parkerized. But here’s the weird part (at least to me), the barrel has small striations or ridges in it, extending down the length of it from about an inch and a half from the receiver. Other than that, it’s just a plain old 18”, cylinder bore, with a raised bead sight. Barrel code is DK, which puts me at 1963, 1990, or 2017. Now, I’m considering sending the gun off for Cerakote once I get all the bells and whistles attached, but not if I have anything rare or excessively old. I doubt it’s anything special, but has anyone seen a barrel like this before? If so, could you maybe shed some light on where and what it’s from?

Re: Odd texture on barrel, curious about age and origin
I would say 1990 since it's 3" capable, 1963 would have been 2 3/4 only and its kind of rusty for a 2017. I wouldn't see any reason not to refinish it or at minimum oil it good and scuff that corrosion off.

Hi! Interesting texture, I have never seen barrel like that before.
