Hi gents,
I own a 1994 Marine Magnum, and upon previous disassembly I have noticed that the bottom end of the mag extension coupling reaching the barrel support ring upon screwing has a rather deep indentation all accross its radius - probably created over the years by the "click-ing" contact with the ball bearing at the edge of the barrel support ring.
I just want to know if this wear and tear situation could pose a problem to the overall functioning of the shotgun and if should it require a new mag coupling. Note I have never fired it before.
I hope I was accurate in my description.
Thank you for all your help.
Alex

As long as the nut snugs up and stays snug and the barrel isn't lose you are fine, but if you wanted to replace it, it probably wouldn't break the bank.
Re: Possible mag extension coupling issue on Marine Magnum
Hi and thank you for your advice.
I have tried to attach with no success a couple of photos showing the state of the rectangular notches at the base of the coupling - the wear is visible - there is a deep groove made by the ball bearing all across the notches and it stops half way to the top of the last notch when screwed all the way to the end.
When the coupling is screwed on top of the barrel control ring, the barrel has a slight sideways rattle only to become snug fit when the coupling is tightly screwed and the ball bearing climbs on top of the last rectangular notch causing a slight misalignment with the barrel ring or when the mag extension is fully screwed on top of the coupling.
I cannot determine if this is a problem or not and a couple of photos would have saved a thousand words.
As regards to buying a new coupling, (for I would have replaced it ages ago) let's say it is very difficult to get a single small part to Romania where I am based, but that is a different story.
Thanks a lot,
Alex

Is this the part you are referring to that is damaged and needs to be replaced?

Hi,
This is it, but the electroless nickel plated version for the Marine Magnum.

Hi Alex,
Ok that is the part I thought you were referring to. It’s fairly easy and inexpensive to get here in the U.S.
you can order it direct from Remington or use the link below to this other site. He has a wide selection of Remington parts.

Hi,
I have already engaged JD from Tacticalgunsling and unfortunately he cannot export it to Romania. This is the case with all US based sellers I have contacted that had this part available. He advised I should call Remington to guide me to one if their European dealers.

Brownells ships internationally but I cannot find this item on their site. You may contact their Special Orders department for that part: specialorders@brownells.com
