First of all welcome to the forum from TEXAS! Congratulations on your 870P
On the marks try some gun lube and rag, maybe an eraser looks like paint.
Should come off no worries. Also post some more pictures

I'd be mad if someone crammed my gun up against the desk or counter top or assembly bench too.

Welcome to the forum. Can't tell what those marks are, or whether they're surface marks or penetrate the finish. But frankly I'd not worry too much. Unless you bought a safe-queen and actually intend to use the weapon, it'll soon get more marks. Just liken it to that first ding on a new car -- they all get 'em inevitably.

That's not really the point .. just like a new car, do you buy a new car and say hey .. slam a shopping cart into it a half Dozen times, cause it's gonna happen eventually.

Welcome to the site. You could always call Remingtons customer service and see what they will do.

Well, glad it’s fixed, and congratulations on your 870P.

So, it's not still ruined?

Re: My First 870p
Remington greases up new 870s pretty good before they leave the factory. Hard to know how long they'll spend in transit/storage before a customer takes delivery. The owner's manual specifically instructs to clean this stuff out of the barrel's chamber & bore before assembling the gun and taking it shooting for the first time. Not reading the manual and leaving that stuff in can contribute to the sticky extraction issue that is often reported with brand-new 870s.
