Um...ya don't convert an Express to Police. The Police has far too many internal parts to be cost-effective to change them all. Different extractor, different carrier, different springs...ya get the drift? Yes, they both are marked to indicate which model they are on the receiver.

Not at all. The significant internal differences only amount to an extractor and two springs - and one of those springs is just there to make the trigger pull heavier for tense armed stand-offs, so it's not really an "upgrade". Honestly, the Express versions of the other two parts work perfectly fine too, and even have some advantages over the Police parts, but if if you want to, it's maybe $25 - $30 to change them. If you're comparing 4-round models, the mag spring might be different too, but that's only another $5 if that's important to you (you might actually be better off with the Express version of that spring, depending on what you're doing).

There are some other differences involving things like the finish, furniture, and chokes, but nothing else that really changes how the gun works mechanically. An Express is an fine choice for HD, as living in a closet doesn't require a heavy-duty finish anyway.

See this post for details on Expresses vs. Police models.

I stand corrected. When I spoke to our armorer, before I retired, he said it would not be worth my while to do so, so I just purchase my Police Magnum instead of an Express. I was basing my response on his.
