Barrel sight bead thread size. I ordered a Tru Glo front sight to replace the existing bead. The size and thread count was 6-48. According to the chart on the web site, this was the correct size; however, the 6-48 sight is too big. Any idea what the correct size would be? The barrel is a standard Remington, 28", modified choke made in 1981. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you for this WONDERFUL web site.
Thanks

Re: Barrel bead
It might be a 3-56 thread if 6-48 is too big. That's just a wild guess, but 3-56 is a common American shotgun bead thread. 6-48 should be standard for 870s as far as I'm aware, but this may be a special case, or perhaps that smaller thread was a modification made after the gun left the factory. You may be able to have the hole drilled out and re-threaded in 6-48.
