First 870

First 870

Just picked up a used 870. It's not marked "express" but has the matte finish and black synthetic stock. Came with 28" barrel. Serial number starts with RS and ends with F. Going to stick a 21" barrel on it and use it as a turkey gun. Can't wait to go try it out.

Any idea the manufacture date of this gun? Any significance to then F suffix?

If the serial number starts with "RS", it's using the new serial number format, and shouldn't be any older than 2009 or 2010 (still haven't nailed that down exactly). Under the current serial number system, the letter on the end doesn't mean anything.
