Pistols

Post by AkiroHikage » Mon May 14, 2012 12:56 am

Just curious out of the 870 fans what pistol they prefer, since the shotgun is not always the weapon of choice. I have a Sig Sauer P226 9mm with night sights.

Can't go wrong with a Sig Sauer, solid pistol. I like that I could switch out the barrel etc for different calibers. I have the single/double action model so the decocking lever is nice. I prefer it over a standard safety.

I used to have a Springfield XD in .45acp and a Taurus model 85 in .38 but I just didn't like the way they felt. I'm a 1911 guy- I like the full size for competition and general use (hunting backup), and I like the smaller Officer models for carry. For summer carry and an everyday backup, I also have a Sig P238 in .380, which is basically a Colt Mustang, which is basically a micro-1911. I also like the S&W M&P Pro line of pistols...they also setup and feel VERY similar to a 1911. 8-)

The Springfield XD in 45ACP is nice, shot one of those a couple months ago. 1911 style pistols are nice. The HK .45 is a smooth pistol too, HK is pricey though.

I only have one handgun left and it used to be my carry gun for work. It is a Beretta 92 Compact L, it is a great shooter that has never jammed or failed me in the 17 years that I have owned it. Lately however I have been lusting over the new Smith & Wesson M&P Shield.

My most recent handgun purchase was a Beretta 92FS. My local club has a very simple action pistol shoot every third Sunday. Prior to the Beretta, I was the only shooter using a revolver with speed loaders. I think they were disappointed that I showed up with the pistol. They used to "titter" about how slow I was even tho I hit what I was aiming at more often than the big 1911 boomers.... :)

I do love my old S&W model 19. Nickel six inch barrel target hammer and trigger. Such a sweet shooter.

I confess that I am interested in getting a M1A1 and / or a Kar98.

Love my Glocks and my 1911s. Especially my Glock 21, Gen 4. Accurate and the recoil impulse has to be the softest of any .45 ACP I've ever shot.

Sig fan here too. P239 for EDC, and P226 E2 for occasional carry and USPSA/IDPA.

Had the Sigs before the shotgun.
