Anything in particular you're looking for in terms of features, size, price range, etc?

I've got a Gun Guard hard case that I really like. It's a double long gun case that'll comfortably hold two rifles or shotguns, a long gun and several pistols, or my 870 with extra barrels & accessories. It's got enough depth to provide a good cushion around typical firearms, and it'll easily fit larger ammo boxes as well. Good metal latch hardware, with two of the four latches lock-able. It's not a portable gun safe, but with both outside latches locked, it's not something you can get into without some tools and effort. I probably wouldn't want to drop it off any tall buildings or submerge it in a lake either, but it stands up to being chucked in & out of vehicles, and kicked around outdoors without any problems. And the two hinged plastic halves leave no path for water get in if it's lying open on wet or muddy ground. A lot of my shooting is done either out in the woods, or at outdoor ranges with benches that are out in the open, so I like a hard case that can't soak through if it's sitting on the ground or in a pile of snow.

I'm not sure these are made anymore, but I've seen them on used-market sites like Armslist for good prices. You'll want to make sure it comes with the key if you want to be able to lock it though, as it doesn't have any of the eyes for padlocks.

If you'd like to see some pictures, let me know, and I'll take some next time I have my cameras out.

This is my case, a Voodoo Tactical 'Enlarged Shotgun Case'. I've been using it for more than 3 years and it still looks new. Very tough materials, very durable. When it's not under my bed, it's lying on some very sad-looking old wooden tables at the range. No problems at all, there. Straps inside and a pouch for the muzzle keep it secure while on the move. Vitaly, the forum's owner, posted my full write-up when I first got it, including more pictures. Well, all this time later, it's been perfect.
Now, it looks like they discontinued this exact model - but the replacement looks pretty great. My case has one zippered pocket on the outside that's on the small side, and four ammo pounches that I've never used. The new one just goes with one large exterior pocket, skipping the shell pockets. Not bad. I strongly recommend this to anybody looking for a soft shotgun case. Here's

I don't see a scabbard replacing a case for transport/range use - at least not for me. It would be great for a truck gun or maybe an ATV or something. Perhaps it would depend on where you live. I couldn't walk my guns from the house to the car with the stock fully visible to everyone around. My $.02, anyway.

I have a couple of Bulldog cases for shotguns. Can't be beat for less than $20.00. I also have several Eagle Industries cases with the hard side. These were in a pawn shop and I tried to purchase them for several years. The owner would only sell for full retail. Finally saw a going out of business sign and paid $35.00 each. These were new but dusty from hanging on the wall for so long.

Buy them for a
