Ejecting problems on new 870?

Post by Rem870FTW »

I've shot maybe 100-150 shits with my brand new 870 express.
It does not eject the Shell always.
Why?
If I cant it so that the port is facing up it def Do not eject.
If I hold it straight/normal sometimes the shell wont come out either.
Any ideas as to why?

What gauge & model is your 870? What ammunition are you using? Are you working the action quickly or slowly when the ejection failures are happening?

.12ga 24g target loads so far.
I saw that plastic snapcaps were not made for pump shotguns.
They got marred up from the claw gripping on to them when ejecting.
First I was thinking that the problem was caused by a small piece of plastic that came off of the snap cap.
That it somehow got stuck in the mechanism.
I cant see anything tho.
It did not matter if I moved the pump fast ir slow when it failed to eject.

You might look at your ejector spring. It's used on large-frame 870s to give the wider 12 & 16 gauge shells an extra kick to make ejection more positive if the slide isn't being racked very fast. If this is bent, or weak because it hasn't been heat-treated properly, it may be contributing to your problem.
