Hello,
I have been searching high and low for a decent tactical sling for my 870 Police Magnum. I wasn't happy with the Magpul sling even though I generally love Magpul products. I have had good luck with Specter slings on some of my AR's so I decided to try their shotgun sling. The Specter sling comes with a GG&G front sling mount. TheGG&G front sling mount is a good concept but I didn't like how many threads you lose on the mag tube cap. It only leaves you about two threads because of how thick it is. Not good in my opinion but who am I. Anyway, I picked up a 1inch Uncle Mikes swivel and since my stock 870P cap had the swivel mount on it, I thought it was worth a try to see how the Specter sling would work on a swivel.
I prefer the rigid fixed side position of the GG&G mount but it's not worth the risk of stripped threads on my mag tube. The Uncle Mike's swivel attachments seems to work just fine. Obviously it's not rigidly fixed but the minimal swivel is fine. Everything has trade-offs I guess. The Specter sling is awesome and I bought the optional shell holder too. I'm personally not a fan of plastic side receiver mounted options.

Re: Specter 2pt sling for 870 Review
I agree with regard to the GG&G sling plate. I tried one of them myself, and found it way too thick. It opened up a gap with magazine extensions that made for unreliable function. I also wasn't a fan of the hard detent ball that was meant to replace the spring-loaded detent in the barrel guide ring. It tended to damage caps & extensions, and made them difficult to tighten or remove.
