12 Guage 870 Special Field Problem
Hello !! I just noticed that the white, half ball type insert in the front sight of my 870 Special Field has fallen out. Does anybody know where I can find a replacement or can it even be replaced without replacing the whole front sight? I sure would appreciate any help I can get with this. I don't know if Remington would still have this part or not....Thanks.... Mike

Beads can be replaced, and are available through Remington's parts department. If you look at the bead (or the hole, if you lost the bead), can you tell if your original bead was threaded or press-in?

I think it is pressed and I can see old glue

Remington lists an ivory front bead on their 2014 parts price list, but it's a threaded bead. There are some other press-in beads on the list that don't specify color/finish. If you give Remington's customer service a call, they may be able to help you identify the exact part you need.
Also, would you possibly be able to measure your special field barrel from the breechface to the front of the guide ring for me?

I've been wondering whether or not the Special Field and MCS 870s use the same barrel guide ring placements & magazine tube lengths, since they're both 3+1 870 variants. Unfortunately, Special Fields are not very common these days.

I don't need pictures, just the measurement.
If you want to show pictures of your front sight though, just upload them here in the thread so everyone can see them.
