Forend Tube Assembly
is this part different for older models of the Wingmaster...1977? the Forend Tube assembly I just ordered is a bit different that the original that broke

Remington has tweaked the design of the fore-end tube assembly a little over the years, but they still work the same way, and all similarly-chambered 870s use the same fore-end tube design.
One thing to be aware of, though, is that the action bars on new fore-end tube assemblies are cut to work only with new-style slide assemblies. If your gun still has the original 1977 slide assembly, it won't be compatible. Remington should have sent you a new slide assembly if that's the case, but if you ordered your new fore-end tube assembly from someone else, you may not be getting the other part with it.
