Ducks Unlimited "The Mississippi"

Post by outlawmedic »

Hey guys,
I have a couple of these great 870's and was wondering if anyone could give me the history behind them. I've called Remington and got no help at all. Other than giving me the year, which I already knew.
Starting off with what I know about the guns. They were made in 1982, limited quantity, mainly given away as dinner guns or raffles. I have one that is new not in the box condition, the other is new never chambered, in the box with the papers. Can anyone give me any further CONFIRMED info about these 870s??

All I know about the Mississippi Magnums is this little blurb from the Remington Society website:
1983: Remington produced 4,000 limited edition, 12 gauge, 3" magnum "Ducks Unlimited Commemorative" Model 870 Mississippi Magnum shotguns. These had a special receiver decoration and 32-inch, full-choke barrels.
Not sure what to make about the 1982/1983 discontinuity. Maybe the guns were made in both years, or perhaps they were manufactured in 1982 and distributed in 1983.
