This is what my 870 looked like before.
This is after the install.
Recoil was manageable with birdshot and really wasnt that bad with 2 3/4 00buck.
The pachmayr grip and forend were easy to install and very comfortable.
I like the way the gun feels to handle with this furniture. I think it would make for a good truck gun because of length and weight.
I havent decided wether or not to leave it on for home defense use. I probably will though because I have glocks and ar's that suit that purpose also.
Many thanks to zebra62 for the kit.
870 pistol grip review
The only issue I have is that the forend rubs on the wider part at the rear of the barrel. It takes a little more force than it should to shove the forend forward. This is not a deal breaker. It seems that the rubber is wearing where it rubs the barrel. It should smooth out or I may put a drop of oil on the spot that rubs.
I looked up this problem online and it refers to the forend not being level with the action bars, but I have checked and that is not the case.

Re: 870 pistol grip review
Looks good Tote412. Should do pretty good as a truck gun. Up until very recently I had an old Mossy 500 Cruiser I took with me any time I walked out the door until I gifted it and an old Taurus PT58 to my oldest Son so he could protect his new family. Like my old 500, your 870 will have no problems filling that role. I would recommend though, if you dedicate it to that role, look into a shorter barrel. It would be easier to move around in the comfines of the vehicle.Tote412 wrote:

I wouldn't leave it a pistol grip for an HD role personally. The shoter length would be good for moving around in tighter quarters, But I like the advantage of having a full stock for more accurate shot placement, especially if there is a concern of over penetration with a loved one on the other side of a wall. Plus, with a full stock as opposed to a pistol grip, you have more real estate to work with should you get into striking range and need to chop someone across the chin with it. I DO NOT like the combination pistol grip/stock. I you would have to reposition my strong hand in order to execute the attack. To many movements in a high stress situation.Tote412 wrote:

I did have this set installed on my Tactical for a short while. I used it like I did my 500, but decided I didn't need two pistol grip guns so I changed back to the OE full stock and cob forend. I don't recall any binding issues with the forend on at the rear of the barrel. Maybe since your is a Magnum, the wider portion is slightly different from my Tactical. If it does not cause a real functionality issue, I would say let it ride.Tote412 wrote:The only issue I have is that the forend rubs on the wider part at the rear of the barrel. You are most assuredly welcome, Brother. Since I did not buy it in the first place, I couldn't see trying to sell it for profit. Knowing you are happy with it covers the shipping.Tote412 wrote: Many thanks to zebra62 for the kit.
Cool start to a great build, Tote412. Keep us in the loop on future mods.

If the fore-end is rubbing on the barrel, you should be able to address it by sanding/filing/Dremeling the fore-end down where it's making contact.
