What can I do with this end cap?

Post by Malpaso »

I picked up an 870P trade in and it appears to be fine functionally, but has some cosmetic issues. While not a big deal, I would like to fix them up. One of them is the grip cap. It looks like someone pried it off, glued it back on, and then lost it. Any way to replace it with a new one in this condition? The stock is fine otherwise, LOP is good for me, so if I can't fix that I'm not going to sweat it. It's going to be a truck gun anyway.

Hmm, I don't know a lot about the trade-in 870 Police Mags; but, I just picked one up a couple weeks ago. Mine has a 1-piece synthetic stock, the standard black synthetic police forend, and there appears to be no cap on the bottom grip, on mine anyway. I perused the Remington parts list, and found this:

F93822 GRIP CAP W/ REM GOLD LOGO $4.12

Not sure if it will fit yours; but, it's the only part I saw on there that may work. There is another cap on there, but it specifies for a 20 gauge. Maybe call Remington Customer Service and inquire? Or, send in a letter with the barrel date code and serial number from the receiver, and maybe they can match up a grip cap for you?

When you find a cap that works or a coin/metal or such you can file to fit drill out the holes larger then epoxy in wooden dowels . Then drill new screw holes in the dowels .
