Factory Bead Sight

Post by cwebb »

Hello. Is it possible to remove and reuse the factory bead sight on late model 870's?

If so, is it threaded so it can be unscrewed or is it a stake?

Looking to shorten a factory length bbl then either reinstall the factory bead sight or install a new bead if necessary.

Thanks!

Some beads are press-in, some are threaded. I think most are press-in these days.

If you're working with a vent-rib barrel, it's pretty easy to drill and tap the rib for a new bead if you know what you're doing. You may not have to bother, though. The rib by itself is a pretty good sighting system for a shotgun, and you can find plenty of clip-on or magnetic sights that attach to the rib if you need to be more precise.
