I am building my girl a brand new 870 20ga and was assembling the forearm and breach bolt. When it tried to seed in the receiver it got stuck. I used force and it finally came loose as a result the left shell latch moved preventing me from be able to insert the trigger pin front as the shell latch left has moved and partially obstructing the pin hole.
The 870 is brand new. What do you all recommend to get this fixed? Do I contact Remington or my local gunsmith? Can I fix myself?
Help as I am eager to teach my girl to shoot her 1st shotgun and break this hog in.
Ty....

You should be able to slide it back into position. There are many older shotguns that the shell latches come unstaked completely and they still function fine. Just makes assembly a bit more interesting haha. Did you depress the shell latches when reinstalling the bolt/forend assembly?

You should be able to fix it yourself. See this video for instructions.
I have another video that demonstrates in detail how to properly reinsert the action, if you're having trouble with the instructions in the manual.
